#hosttermHost Shell — a real shell on the machine serving this page, drawn as a model. The Terminal model beside it is [websh](https://github.com/0magnet/websh), a Bash interpreter compiled into the wasm over a filesystem that exists only in the browser; this one is a pty on the host, reached through the same agent the desk's host pane uses. It needs the server to have been started with **--shell**, which also forces a loopback bind — the server refuses that flag on a listener the network can reach rather than warning about it. Without the flag the terminal still opens and says so, because an empty rectangle with no explanation is the worse answer. **Double-click** the canvas to type into it and **Esc** to give the keyboard back, exactly as for the Terminal model. It reached the screen before this as a window inside the Desk; as a model it is the shell without the window manager around it.
Open Host Shell in chaosrack →It opens running, on the model selector, with its own knobs. Rotate it by dragging, zoom with the wheel, and turn the parameters to see what the figure does when the system changes.
